Hi folks, I was talking with Shelly about cat food and then she mentioned about GMO cat food...then the topic of cancer came up. There will be a great documentary on why cancer is so common and about a reporter who recently experienced cancer and is doing her own investigating on the causes of cancer. I am hoping many people can catch it and view it. I hoping it be watched on Internet so I can copy and share the message along with families, friends and others.

Chasing the Cancer Answer: After fighting the disease herself, Marketplace's Wendy Mesley is asking questions about our rising cancer rates.
She's getting some disturbing answers.
Chasing the Cancer Answer travels the world to provide revealing interviews with an outspoken American doctor, frustrated cancer victims in southern Ontario, pharmaceutical sales representatives in Paris, France, and activists working to increase awareness of prevention measures.
Chasing the Cancer Answer invites viewers along on the journey to find answers to one of the country's fastest growing medical crises.
For that story, watch Marketplace Sunday March 5, 7:00 pm on CBC Television.

I saw a little preview of it and they mentioned that the many carcinogens in the environment can contribute to the encouragement of cancer. The many products we use everyday. It is so scary..go to a common grocery chain and look in the cleaning product area or beauty products. Read the ingredient list..So full of stuffs / chemicals that we can't even pronounce. Of course those products are considered safe and having the safety seal of approval but that just tells us it is safe for a small amount of dose but we are physically accumulating a great amount over the years when we step outside and into the smog, the bustling of city life. The traffic smell is So gross at peak hours!! And we do this very time we go to work. That is why Conscious consumption is so significance. Anything Environmental friendly and biodegradable is a must if we want to live a healthy lifestyle.
much metta,
Yuri

Love your insights, Yuri. I don’t have television either, so if you ever find a weblink to it, please post about it! I would like to see what science is used and what conclusions are reached.
Thank you Yuri. I will be paying attention. Anything I can learn on this topic will help the horses in my future.
Here’s a little interesting trivia for you. Cancer in horses was reletively unheard of (except in all white horses that were extremely sensitve to the sun) until the last couple of decades. When they used to graze in fields and live normal “horse lives” they faired rather well. Then we started vaccinating them biannually….feeding them processed feeds full of chemicals and GMO corn….giving them hay sprayed with fertilizer, herbicide and pesticide….enclosing them in 12x12 stalls with no where to graze…and spraying chemical fly sprays and grooming gels all over them…. and “walla!”…. herbivores that never had cancer or nuerological disorders before, suddenly are getting it at an alarming rate.
There is hope though. I was fortunate to be able to work with several afflicted horses last summer who were not responding to allopathic treatments. The owners were at wits-end because nothing was helping. When I took all chemicals out of their environment, gave them only organic feeds and supplimented with herbs, allowed them lots of pasture grazing time and herd interaction, added high doses of antioxidents and did energetic healing for them the cancers began to go away. It was this experience that lead me to create my Zaad….. the creation of Light Heart Ranch…. a sustainable, holistic healing center for animals with cancer, nuerological disorders and other special healing needs.
As you know, horses are not the only ones suffering the consequences of what we humans are doing to them. Dogs, cats, birds, fish, etc…. are all being afflicted by the environmental toxins. And they are far more sensitive to it than us. As you were saying, conscious consumpion even as our animals are concerned is an answer.
What a blessing you are, Shelly!
Thank you Matthew. That makes my soul smile. Funny thing is though…… I feel like the lucky one. It is an honor for me to help these beloved creatures get back to their Higher Selves and I am humbled every day by their courage and light-heartedness about it all.

These are the words of a truly outstanding being, and may I suggest a wonderful example of what it means to be a ”Bodhizaadzva.” –Living to your highest potential for the sake of all sentient beings!
talking about cat food. someone here ask how to cook cat food in vegan for her cat ^ ^ any idea?? ^ ^ I bet you have tons.
Thank you for the wonderful feedback gals and guy. Yes, it is scary what is out there for us to breath in or just be expose to because of our food consumption..and especially for animals!! The pet foods out there are really not fit of pets.
Wow shelly, good for you for creating a healing place for horses. How many horses can you take? What other animals do you treat also?
Hey Matt, I will try and take some notes for you :) I was going to record but then it is too complex to switch the cords.
Templegirl. as for making your own vegan cat food..tell your friend to buy vegancat products (those consist of all the vitamins/minerals your pet needs then all you have to do is put in the other common ingredients like oatmeal or chickpeas. I tried the oatmeal recipes..but my cat did not like it at all. It is better and just easier to buy vegan cat food online. Number, you are showing support to vegan pet products..number 2, the food contents are more consistent. You actually need the vitamins/taurine in there for the cat’s health. Where is your friend going to buy taurine?
Hi Again Yuri. It is my intention for LHR to have room for at least 30 that are in the healing phases and 50-70 that are there to “just be horses” and live out their lives in peace and dignity. There is a sustainability factor to the facility so there is a fine balance between # of horses and size of land. I’ve yet to fine tune that #. In the long run, I intend to help others learn how to create these centers throughout the world….. big vision being one or two for every major city. Now that horse slaughter is ending, there will be all the more reason for these types of facilites to open up. I am focusing on horses but my soul tells me that all animals will be coming.
Templegirl, I agree with Yuri on supporting the vegan industry and having a consistant product. Going vegan with a carnivore such as a cat or dog is VERY touchy business. There are very important nutrients that they receive from meat… especially cats. So if not supplimented, their health can suffer. Talking to a holistic vet can help you greatly when deciding what is right for your pet. I am not yet convinced that most cats and dogs have evolved physiologically to sustain optimal health on a vegan diet. Just as each human has different nutritional needs, so do animals. I believe the best diet right now for dogs and cats in general is a organic raw meat and vegi diet…. add some sprouted grains and greens and it is perfect. Interspersed with some all vegan meals and the occasional fast seems to be optimal according to most holistic vets. (interesting fact- most holistic vets I know are mainly raw Vegans, yet they still agree that carnivore animals need meat) We humans took them out of their natural state to become our companions and thus it is up to us to provide their essential needs as long as they are in captivity. Now having said that, I am also an animal advocate and desire that every animal have the best possible life…. that is where the organic and humanely farmed meat comes in….. and always in the smallest amounts possible for optimum health. Just like most humans tend to over consume meat…. we also feed our carnivores too much.
How I determine my animals needs is through muscle testing. Each animal’s Higher Essence (Soul) knows exactly what it’s Highest needs are…. just as ours does…. even though we might not hear it or listen to it… it is still there for the learning. I muscle test each of my animals regularly to determine their needs.
Currently my dog and cats do not test strong for the vegan meal 100% of the time. As well, when given the choice, most times they choose some meat. I believe they know what is best for them and allow the meat even though I am a Vegan. Sometimes too, they will choose a vegan approach at times in their lives. I have witnessed healing miracles take place when animals were taken off a life-long kibble (corn and grain) based diet and given strictly organic raw meat. Diabetes, nuerological disorders, and skin allergies have disappeared. When it comes to cancer though I have seen the reverse. I recently treated a dog that had a brain tumor. The only thing he would allow me to force feed him was fresh carrot and beet juice with Super Greens mixed in. He lived on that for a month and the tumor symptoms were subsiding before he caught pnuemonia and passed. I am clear that he knew he needed to fast to starve the tumor and that the vital nutrients from the greens and juice were what kept him alive in the mean time. Had he not aspirated some of the juice which got in his lungs, I believe he would have lived.
My point is that animals know instinctively what they need when given pure, whole foods. They can get a little confused when we offer them processed food of low quality because many of the ingredients and chemicals in such food is addictive and over rides their natural ability to know. Muscle test your animals using a surrogate that has very clear energy and trust the results they tell you. And trust yourself and your connection to them to know what is best for them also. I absolutely believe that Yuri’s connection to her kitty is so strong that she knew what was best to provide for it. The confirmation was in the picking when the kitty chose the new vegan over the old food. Pretty cool stuff.
Good luck!
It is true that the kitty can pick but we have to encourage the positive choice to be there first :) If we can make better choices than the kitty, we go do the leading and not give total control to the kitty. There are many many kitty with many many different kinds of personality and intelligence like us and some kitty can make good choices while others can make not so good choices. That is interesting note that the dog with the brain tumor choose fresh carrot and beet juice with super greens mixed in. Thanks shelly for sharing..^^
This post has got me thinking about a lot of new things and possible solutions. I am grateful for that. Thanks Yuri!
